Dr. Filippopoulos has been proud to organise the 1st Comprehensive Ophthalmology Fellowship in Greece coupled with the scholarship our institution, the Athens Vision Eye Institute, provided in memory of our late friend and colleague Dr. Grigoris Georgariou, M.D. Here he stands along with Dr. Anastasios Charonis with a group of former fellows (Drs. A. Manaios, M. Zozolou, D. Tsoukanas & G. Kosti).

Our Institution is committed to excellence and to medical education. In that context we have been welcoming visiting residents and medical students from leading institutions around the world such as the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida and Yale Medical School.
Covid-19
At our institution we have taken all necessary measures to minimize the likelihood of transmission of the disease for our patients and personnel. We have spaced out all appointments, we have postponed routine cases and we have cancelled all elective cases. We hope to see you all back when this unusual situation resolves.

With great pleasure Dr. Filippopoulos accepted the invitation by the European Glaucoma Society to participate in the sub-committee which works on the prerequisites and the requirements of the official glaucoma fellowship teaching curriculum in Europe.

Every year during the Glaucoma Week the scientific community attempts to inform the public about the disease which is in early stages asymptomatic and which is currently the most common reason of irreversible blindness worldwide. This fact is really disappointing as a considerable part of glaucoma related morbidity is preventable with timely diagnosis and intervention.
MY MOTTO
