Theodoros Filippopoulos, M.D.

Dr. Theodoros Filippopoulos, M.D. renewed his American Board of Ophthalmology certification. The American Board of Ophthalmology is one of the most important and stringent credentialing organizations in our field.

Dr. Filippopoulos has been organising in Athens since 2016 the annual scientific meeting Best of Ophthalmology which reviews the latest developments in our field that have been presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Our Institution is committed to excellence and to medical education. In that context we have been welcoming visiting residents and medical students from leading institutions around the world such as the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida and Yale Medical School.

With great pleasure Dr. Filippopoulos accepted the invitation by the European Glaucoma Society to participate in the sub-committee which works on the prerequisites and the requirements of the official glaucoma fellowship teaching curriculum in Europe.

Every year during the Glaucoma Week the scientific community attempts to inform the public about the disease which is in early stages asymptomatic and which is currently the most common reason of irreversible blindness worldwide. This fact is really disappointing as a considerable part of glaucoma related morbidity is preventable with timely diagnosis and intervention.
